I write this with tears of gratitude, praising God for His gracious mercy. My mom and dad were spending the night in Pilot Rock with my brother’s family. Nine people in the house, asleep.
At 5 AM, Mom awoke to yelling. Holly burst into the room, scooped Johnathan off the top bunk, and yelled for Mom and Dad to get out. Mom grabbed her glasses, Dad his pants, and they ran out of the house. The heat intensified as they made their way to the door.
Ten seconds. That’s all the time Mom said they had. And all nine people got out safely: the four-year-old twins, Cassie, Brenna, Holly, Mark, Mark’s friend, and Mom and Dad. A two-story house and even the pets got out. Praise our Father in Heaven!
The enormous old church next door to them had caught on fire and burnt to the ground. A neighbor across the street woke to the brightness of the flames and came to rouse the family. Thank God!
I was going to ask you to pray for small miracles, like an unharmed photo album, but Mom called again and they had brought out some photo albums, Mom’s purse, and Holly’s hand-sewn wedding dress. Walmart is already in action making clothing bundles for everyone.
I shudder at what could have happened, but give all thanks so the Lord for saving them! Pray for my brother’s family as they salvage what they can and remake their life.
Wow wow wow wow. I’m speechless, overwhelmed. I can’t even imagine it!! Praise our Glorious Lord!!!!! Thank You thank You thank You, Lord!!!
Still praying, for sure.
ALL my love to you all!!!!! : )
I agree with Donna Praise God no one was hurt.
Tough time ahead, but praise God it wasn’t worse.
Oh my stars, that is aweful. I’m so sorry, and ditto all thanks to God for keeping your family, even the pets and photo albums, safe. Even the hand sew wedding dress. Sounds like God protected all the priceless things. What a great God we serve!
Oops – that really was meant to be “your”!
Amazing. Praising God that everyone got out alive.
