What would a conference be if no one showed up?
This is group of crazy ladies. I kid you not. The sanest one is probably the one in the back, because she’s really just standing up to leave, not posing in the picture as it appears. Kidding! She’s the wonderful Wendy Lawton, agent extraordinaire at Books & Such Literary Agency. Another reason to assume she’s of sound mind: she did not sign us after meeting us at last year’s conference. (Which is not to say the agents we did sign with are nuts, but….) The sweetest thing Wendy said to us at the conference? That we’d slipped through her fingers by signing with the Van Diests so quickly. At least that’s how we’ve all chosen to remember it.
From left to right: Donna Fleisher, me, Sherrie Ashcraft (Mom), and Kristen Johnson. Kristen is a member of our Redeemed Writers critique group; she also possesses one of the finest voices I’ve ever heard.
Whatever you do, do NOT click on the link to Donna Fleisher. There is absolutely nothing going on over at her blog. No hilarity in the recent comments on her OCW post. None.
Ah! One of my favorite pictures. Have you ever seen Little People, Big World? This is the famous grandmother, Peggy Roloff, from the reality show. Last year I accosted her in the bathroom line when I recognized her and tried to get a picture with her. Alas, the batteries in my camera were dead. But I remedied that this year.
A new friend that I didn’t expect to see: Miralee Ferrell. I’ve gotten to know Miralee through Shoutlife. Her first book, The Other Daughter, releases this fall.
Here I am with Robin Parrish. I’m holding his book, Relentless, which I bought for my husband.
And another real life meeting with an Internet personality. Camy Tang taught an awesome workshop on HTML for dummies. I love meeting her and getting to see her in action, though I’m most grateful for how she kept her roommates in check.
You’re right. No hilarity at Donna’s blog. None. Tammy actually said it was fiction! The nerve!!
; )
(La-huv all the pix.)
What fun to see so many dear and familiar faces! Thanks for the pictures!

It was great meeting you too, Christina!
