While all the blog tour posts have been at least slightly different, today’s is incredibly different. My dear Ashley Weis, designer of this beautiful blogger page, asked me questions that were more about me than about The Familiar Stranger. When I read my answers back, I realized she drew things out of me I didn’t even know where there.
The interview begins with:
1.) Describe your soul in three separate words.
Fractured, held, healed
The mega party book signing I announced in our newsletter is drawing closer! In only SIX days, crowds will descend on the Cedar Hills (Beaverton) Christian Supply to enjoy an evening with readings by Christina Berry, Chris McDaniel, and Robin Jones Gunn (who I’m going to call Christy Jones Gunn to keep with the theme). A local band will open and Chris and Conrad will play a free 45-minute concert! Lots of yummy treats there as well.
K-LOVE is sponsoring the evening and yesterday began to run the ad spot. Wow, I’m glad I didn’t first hear it when I was driving or I might have crashed! It’s like they’re talking about someone else, a different Christina Berry.
I spent this morning having a free therapy session with my friend Sandy. Then took advantage of being in Forest Grove and, with one hour to spare before preschool ended, set about papering the downtown with flyers about the event. Pizza Schmizza, US Bank, Van Dykes … every business said yes and was excited about putting it up in their window EXCEPT the library. They only post non-profit events. Which cracks me up! I mean, it’s a fine thing to support non-profits, but that the library doesn’t want to advertise for a local author does give me the giggles. (I’ll try to set up a reading there sometime in the near future!)
I also meandered onto the campus of Pacific University, my alma matter. On a whim, I climbed to the second story of Bates Hall and found him. Professor Mike Steele, my college advisor. Telling him about the book’s release felt a little like finding a long lost uncle who had taught you how to fly fish and regaling him with the tale of a huge fish you caught a decade later.
Also popped in at the local paper and they might mention the signing in their next issue. Busy, busy day from then on out … foster care meetings, mysterious rash on a little body, open house at the school, and finally getting to sit down and share my life–and my inside ponderings in Ashley’s blog–with you. Thanks for keeping up with me!
Wow, that first question is pretty cool. I’ll go check it out.
Just followed Ashley’s blog last night. She is excellent with websites!
I also was captivated by that first question and might have to ask it on one of my posts if that’s okay?

Christina, sorry about the library. Limiting flyers to non-profits is a common policy.
Rather than a reading, you might offer to teach a workshop on writing. I sent you an e-mail about this earlier today. We’ll talk.
Wendy, sure you can use that question or another crazy one of your own choosing. 🙂
Thanks for the advice, Judy. I understood their policy but appreciated the irony all the same. hehe
Jessica, you’re just all around awesome, you know?
