I Broke into a NEW Market!

Okay, maybe “broke into” isn’t quite the phrase I was looking for. Maybe meandered in and asked nicely if they would carry a local author’s book. 🙂

Here’s Elaina (I hope that’s the right spelling of her name!), owner of the Gaston Market with their newest ware on the shelf behind her. At eye level. By delicious chocolate. Next to the cash register where people have to wait in line. Could I ask for better product placement??
So all you locals, they’re selling autographed copies for $12. Buy yours on the next milk or pizza run!
Today’s The Familiar Stranger stop is Maggie Woychik’s much followed blog, Encouraging Emerging Authors. 
I’m not a big fiction fan. Contrived fiction has to be well-executed to find a place among my quickly fleeting moments. I rarely wade into that world because it’s such a large one and far too often, one wrought with less-than-well-executed offerings.

 Yep, gotta skedaddle over to her blog to what the rest of the sentence says. Me thinks I’m getting better at this intrigue, teaser thing. Should come in handy when I start dating.

Kara from New Zealand recounts her hilarious tale of being GRILLED by immigration officials when she landed in America for the ACFW conference. Can you figure out why before she tells you what the problem was? Here’s a hint: read it aloud in a down-under accent. 🙂

Admittedly, and though nothing provoked me to feel this way, I didn’t have high hopes for this book. Honestly, I thought it was going to resemble a soap opera. How wrong I was.

Lastly, I want to share this quote my dad left on Ashley Weis’ interview, because aren’t we all trying to make our father/Father proud?

Christina’s mom had this up on her computer and called me in to read it. Many of the blogs on the tour had started to sound the same, and it was refreshing to see this GREAT one! It really is a big puddle of joy around the Ashberry place (Sherrie and I live downstairs). Christina’s example has helped me see that joy is the primary thing that draws others to Jesus as they see Him in us. I believe her book will be used to change lives with its strong emphasis on truth and forgiveness.

    Christina – I love how you’re not afraid to get out there. “Buy yours on the next milk or pizza run!” I love that. We’re seeing so many blogs out there telling writers to be prepared to sell your book. You’re doing an awesome job getting your book out there.

    Heather, I know some people have a hard time self-promoting, but I guess that gene skipped me. The ridiculous part is that I was extremely shy until high school!

    Beth, I know. Best ever placement and I didn’t have a thing to do with it. 🙂
