A Sickening Day–Not So Minty Fresh

I made friends with a bucket in the wee hours of the morning, but this really isn’t about that. It’s about being sick with four kids. Actually, the two babies were the hardest to deal with. Big surprise.

God answered my prayer of the boys sleeping in positively, so it wasn’t until 8:40 that FC#2 woke up. Then I groggily called downstairs via cell to ask Mom to feed him breakfast so I could rest until FC#3 woke. Of course, being the fantastic mother she is, she agreed.

Around 9:30, I had to drag myself out of bed to face the day. Luckily, it must have been something I ate, because I felt weak and drained, but not nauseous or flu-like.

You know how they say dogs can sense fear? Well, kids can sense weakness. The boys were so naughty today! Just yesterday I mentioned to Mom that they really seemed to be fitting into our family, that it almost seemed easy. Ha. Overnight, they became imps. Vulturous imps! They circled around their weakened prey and dive-bombed again and again.

At one point–ugh, my stomach turns just thinking about it–the older boy secretly got into the candy drawer. He took a new 10-pack of gum. He unwrapped and ate about twenty pieces of Winterfresh gum. The “fresh” smell has been coming out of his pores. I can only imagine the blue poo I’ll be seeing. And the disgusting fresh smell accompanying it.

They sat on the rug for disobeying many, many times before nap time. When I put them to bed, I promised we’d start a new part of the day when they woke up. It’s been better. I’m getting more strength back … and the vultures are backing off.
