It’s "Double" Time!

From one baby, to two. In just one week.

It’s been a wonderful, fun place around here. We had our first foster baby (F#1) for five days. He spoiled us rotten: sleeping eleven hours straight, gazing at us with his beautiful Choctaw Indian eyes, taking two naps, giggling at everything my kids did, LOVING water so much he’d put his face under in the bath tub with his eyes open, charming all our friends at all the parties we went to, …

Parties? Oh, yes. The baby must have thought our whole life is a party. The day after we got him, Andrea finished her Engineering Camp 4 Girls and had a party/presentation of all their projects. The next day, Joshua’s baseball team had their end of the year party complete with two huge, blowup water slides. We went from that to a potluck at church, complete with party games. The next day found us at the skating rink–lights, music, action!

Being the perfect baby, he was very portable. We returned him to DHS on Monday morning shortly before leaving on our quick vacation to the other side of the state to visit with Kevin’s family. Andrea shed a few tears, but we tried to distract her by taking the kids to the Hermiston water park. Trouble was … I kept thinking of how much FC#1 would have loved the water!

We’ll be going to a huge water park next week, but the kids had never been down that kind of water slide. We figured they’d never be able to go do the big ones if they didn’t do the small ones in Hermiston. Joshua said, “This is the best pool for teaching you how to do things,” because they were able to practise on the smaller scale.

Another funny thing Joshua said when I complemented him on his obedience: “It’s not anything you taught me, Mom. It was FC#1 who taught me because he never fussed!”

We got home Wednesday afternoon. Thursday morning went outside to an old camp trailer we bought to fix up, made a list of all the things we needed to get, and headed to Lowes.

Guess who called us when we’d headed a half hour in the opposite direction of DHS? Yep, and they had two babies for us to take. I neglected to mention that Mom ended up taking FC#1 back because we had to leave for Hermiston. That makes it sound like we didn’t want to keep him, which was definitely not the case. He was returning to family that day anyway, so Mom transported him. And guess who picked up the new babies? Right again.

If only everyone could have a mother like mine. 🙂

Now we have FC#2 and FC#3. They’re brothers, 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 years old. Open for adoption if there are any takers out there. We should have these fellows for a few months.

I’d like to post more frequently, so I’m freeing myself from “fancy” posting. Often I will end up not posting because I don’t have a picture loaded onto the computer or I don’t have time to add in links, etc … But I’ve come to the realization that you’d probably have something boring looking to read than nothing at all. 😉

    Hi Christina –

No wonder you haven’t been posting! When do you get time to write at all?

I’m glad everything is working out well with the foster children. Have fun with the little ones.

    Blessings,
    Susan 🙂
